It is my great pleasure to invite you for the UN Summer Academy 2013, which will take place in New York City from 10-15 June.

As emphasised by Sir Richard Jolly in the 2012 inaugural session, ideas are among the UN's most important contributions, and the organisation has led the way with many ideas, notably in development thinking, setting goals, statistics, the environment, supporting equitable economic relations, peace and security, human rights and human development. Nurturing ideas therefore constitutes an essential ingredient for a continuing successful United Nations Organisation, and the UN Summer Academy serves as a catalyst thereof.

The UN Summer Academy offers executive education, learning and knowledge exchange to those working for the United Nations and those who actively engage with the UN System in their daily lives. It combines academic rigour with cutting edge thinking and builds on a renowned faculty.

The curriculum for the 2013 session is focused on "The Role of the United Nations in a Rapidly Changing World", with a particular emphasis on innovation and inclusion. Participation in the 2013 session will provide an ideal opportunity to engage in profound discussions with peers and faculty, participate in solution oriented practical clinics, and strengthen knowledge and skills on issues of relevance to the work of the United Nations and its partners.
