On behalf of the United Nations System Staff College, it is with great pleasure that we are inviting you for the UN Summer Academy 2014, which will take place from 9-13 June at the Dag Hammarskjöld Auditorium, UN Headquarters, New York.
Ideas are among the UN's most important contributions, and the organisation has led the way with many, notably in development thinking, setting goals, statistics, the environment, supporting equitable economic relations, peace and security, human rights and human development. Nurturing ideas therefore constitutes an essential ingredient for a continuing successful United Nations Organisation, and the UN Summer Academy serves as a catalyst thereof.
The UN Summer Academy offers executive education, learning and knowledge exchange to those working for the United Nations and those who actively engage with the UN system in their daily lives. It combines academic rigour with cutting edge thinking, builds on a renowned faculty and is one of the few UN learning events open to UN staff, diplomats and civil society representatives alike.
The curriculum for the 2014 session is focused on "New challenges, new actors, new UN approaches?", with a particular emphasis on innovation and leadership. Participation in the 2014 session will provide an ideal opportunity to interact with peers and faculty, participate in solution oriented practical clinics, and strengthen knowledge and skills on issues of relevance to the work of the United Nations and its partners.
We look forward to welcoming you in New York for what promises to be another inspiring UN Summer Academy session!
